Sendurai Mani: An interesting study linking thyroid function and brain activity

Sendurai Mani shared a post on LinkedIn:

In this study, Hochbaum and team uncovered the direct impact of thyroid hormone on the adult male mouse brain’s frontal cortex. Their research reveals that aside from its role in metabolism regulation, thyroid hormone triggers the activation of specific genes crucial for influencing neuron connections, synapses, and myelination.

These genetic changes ultimately drive significant alterations in brain circuits. Moreover, this study highlights the hormone’s pivotal role in the frontal cortex, where it not only governs innate exploratory behaviors but also plays a causal role in promoting exploratory decision-making. An interesting study linking thyroid function and brain activity.”
