Update of the progress in the management of esophageal cancers by Lorenzo Ferri at ISW24

International Surgical Week (ISW) 2024 is being held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from August 25 to 29. This Conference brings together leading surgeons, researchers, and healthcare professionals world-wide to discuss the latest advancements, techniques, and innovations in surgical practice.

In connection with this, Sivesh K Kamarajah, NIHR Doctoral Fellow at the University of Birmingham, shared a post on X:

“Update of the current progress in the management of oesophageal cancers at ISW24 by Lorenzo Ferri.

  • Early cancers -> expanding role of local resection for T1b, but is staging an ongoing dilemma?
  • Locally advanced adeno – ESOPEC renews discussion on benefit of FLOT over CROSS

> But, do we need to explore watch and wait trial with FLOT, with better pCR

  • Targeted approach to treatment with immunotherapy and understanding interactions with chemo/CRT”
