James Khan: Our 1000th breast cancer patient into the PLAN Trial!
James Khan, Associate Professor Department of Anaesthesia at University of Toronto, shared on LinkedIn:
“I’m proud to announce that we randomized our 1000th breast cancer patient into the PLAN Trial!
This milestone represents a significant achievement for our team as we work to assess the effect of an intraoperative lidocaine infusion on preventing persistent pain following breast cancer surgery. I am deeply grateful to everyone who has contributed to this project, including our funders: the Canadian Institute of Health Research (CIHR), the Canadian Anesthesia Research Foundation (CARF), and The Rising Tide Foundation. This has been a remarkable collaborative effort, involving over 60 investigators from 14 recruitment sites across Canada. In the coming months, we plan to expand our recruitment to international centers in Africa, Europe, and the U.S., with the goal of completing the trial by 2025.
Just 600 more patients to go!”
