“Joining the Texas Children’s Hospital ukulele choir is the single best thing I’ve done for my professional well-being this year.
Two months ago, I had never played ukulele.
I haven’t played any instrument since middle school.
After seeing how much joy the choir brings to staff by caroling around the hospital and with encouragement from Marial Biard, I decided to try it out!
Now I get to be one of the people brightening people’s days with a skill that has nothing to do with my usual role.
So grateful to our Music Therapy team for being patient, teaching me and anyone else who wants to learn, and making a real, tangible effort to bring light to a job that can get so very dark ”
