Your school could be involved with the work at Manchester Cancer Research Centre

Manchester Cancer Research Centre shared on LinkedIn:

“On Thursday 11th and Friday 12th July, a team from the Manchester Breast Centre had a great time at Beaver Road Primary School in Didsbury, Manchester, showing pupils from different year groups a bit about life as a cancer researcher.

Dr Bruno Simões, a research fellow in the breast biology group and Sara Cabral, a PhD student, explained to students what is in a cell, how the cell works, and how it helps our bodies grow and stay healthy.

Years 4 and 5 developed their knowledge of how cells work, understanding the process of DNA replication and cell division. Pupils investigated how small changes in how a cell replicates and divides can give us clues about how and why cancer develops, and what we can do to stop it.

Thanks very much to everyone at Beaver Road – we felt so lucky to be invited to work with your young scientists, and we hope that some of them will come and join us full-time when they grow up!
