Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center received a $4M grant from NCI to study a survivorship care education program
Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center shared a post on LinkedIn:
”We are thrilled to announce that Sylvester has received a $4M grant from the National Cancer Institute (NCI) to study a survivorship care education program over the next five years. This transformative program aims to enhance primary care clinicians’ ability to provide comprehensive care for cancer survivors.
In collaboration with 14 Health Choice Network primary clinics in South Florida, our dedicated team, led by Frank J. Penedo, will develop end-to-end best practice guidelines. Co-principal investigators Jessica MacIntyre and Jocelyn Lawrence emphasize the program’s potential to improve long-term outcomes and quality of life for survivors.
This initiative builds on national standards for survivorship care developed under President Biden’s Cancer Moonshot, addressing unmet supportive care needs, particularly in racial and ethnic minority populations.
