Gemma Peters: This work is revolutionising how we think about meeting needs of patients and families at the end-of-life.

Gemma Peters, CEO at Macmillan Cancer Support, recently shared a post by Social Finance on LinkedIn, adding:

”This work is revolutionising how we think about meeting needs of patients and families at the end-of-life. This £36million fund is open to all partners, including NHS bodies, who have transformational ideas. Please share with relevant people in your networks.”

Quoting Social Finance’s post:

”Open to applications today: £36m fund for adult end-of-life care services.

Through social investment, partners can get up-front funding for transformational end-of-life care services for adults that’s only repayable if agreed outcomes are met, with no financial return. Macmillan Cancer Supportand Social Finance provide programme, financial and clinical expertise to design and support the funded services.

The social investment provided by Macmillan is not a grant or a loan, meaning that this funding source is open to all partners including NHS bodies. There are no interest charges and outcomes payments will never exceed the total service costs, funded in full by Macmillan.

Services invested in by the Macmillan fund to date are already demonstrating that the value of savings is greater than the service running costs, and we want to help others achieve this.

The £36m fund is now open to applications and the deadline is 31 October 2023.”
