Hollywood meets the fight against pediatric cancer!
We’re beyond excited to share that renowned Golden Globe and Critics’ Choice Award-winning actor and humanitarian Richard Gere, along with his wife, publicist, businesswoman, and philanthropist Alejandra Gere, are joining the Second Global OncoThon—a 24-hour global movement by OncoDaily and International Society of Paediatric Oncology (SIOP) dedicated to transforming the future of childhood cancer care.
“What we all have in common is an appreciation of kindness and compassion; all the religions have this. We all lean towards love.”
These words from a 1999 interview with Melvin McLeod embody the essence of his life’s work and his commitment to justice, kindness, and social change.

Why Pediatric Cancer Funding Matters?
Every year, thousands of children worldwide receive a cancer diagnosis. Many lack access to the latest treatments—and too many don’t survive. They cannot shout from hospital rooms for the attention they deserve. That’s where we come in. They rely on us—adults, advocates, and community members – to amplify their voices and raise awareness about the critical need for funding and research into childhood cancer. We can—and must—do better. The Global OncoThon is about bringing people together to make that change happen.
