Voice of the families: Ayman Kelifa and his father – CANCaRe Africa
CANCaRe Africa shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Voice of the families, post 28 Ayman Kelifa and his father.
Ayman Kelifa from Asendabo, located 54 km away from Jimma, developed a lesion on the right side of his neck 8 months ago, which gradually increased in size. Concerned, the father took him to a nearby health center. From there, the health center referred him to Jimma University Medical Center.
At Jimma University, after the necessary investigations were completed, the child was diagnosed with Hodgkin Lymphoma. The father shared that this is his first child, and he was extremely worried when he learned of the cancer diagnosis.
As a daily laborer, the father is unable to afford the medical expenses, including chemotherapy, especially for medications that are not available in the hospital. He mentioned that the cash transfer he received from CANCaRe Africa through the Zero Abandonment from Start to Finish program was incredibly helpful. He expressed his heartfelt gratitude to CANCaRe Africa and Jimma University Medical Center for their support.
Appropriate consent given.”
