“UICC was delighted to host a flagship session at the World Cancer Congress to examine progress in implementing the World Health Organization Global Breast Cancer Initiative (GBCI) and showcase practical, collaborative, and data-driven approaches to help countries achieve the GBCI targets globally.
Speakers highlighted their experiences in meeting the GBCI targets from resource-adapted settings, with particular attention to strengthening early diagnosis and referral pathways, reducing delays in care, supporting treatment completion, expanding patient navigation, and embedding monitoring within national breast cancer programmes.
