Sophie Pilleron Highlights the First Methods Pre-Conference Workshop and Methods Session at the SIOG Conference

Sophie Pilleron, FNR ATTRACT Fellow, Group leader at Luxembourg Institute of Health, shared on LinkedIn:

“For the first time in SIOG – International Society of Geriatric Oncology conference history, we had a Methods pre-conference workshop and a Methods session sponsored by the SIOG Methods Working Group.

I am very thankful to the Scientific Committee for making this possible.

The pre-conference workshop aimed to help design better observational studies with a causal objective, emphasizing the importance of clearly defining your research question, identifying an appropriate set of adjustments, and providing an introduction to target trial emulation.

The Methods session was dedicated to implementation science and featured three amazing talks.

Kelly McConnell provided a brief introduction to implementation science, while Supriya Mohile, on behalf of Lisa Lowenstein and Bridget O’ Sullivan, presented concrete examples of implementation science in practice, using the implementation of American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) guidelines on geriatric assessment in clinical practice and the GERONTE H2020 Project as case studies.

A big thank you to my amazing co-chairs, Dr. Jennifer Lund and Pauline Duquenne!”

To which Pauline Duquenne, Postdoctoral Fellow at Luxembourg Institute of Health, added:

“So happy to have been part of the Methods Workshop at the SIOG Conference!”
