“As Patron of the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) I was honored to join HM Queen lLetizia of Spain in Brussels to mark the 10th anniversary of World Cancer Research Day at the headquarters of the EORTC.
The occasion brought together leading voices from cancer research, clinical care, patient advocacy and policy to reflect on the challenges and opportunities shaping the future of cancer research.
In my keynote remarks, I stressed that cancer research is not a luxury – it is not something we fund only when economies are doing well. It is not something separate from cancer. Research is cancer care.
Sustained investment in research, stronger international collaboration and equitable access to advances in prevention, treatment and care are essential if we are to change the trajectory of cancer for patients everywhere.”
