National Cancer Centre Singapore (NCCS) shared on LinkedIn:
“Today, NCCS was honoured to welcome His Royal Highness Crown Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah and the Brunei delegation to the SingHealth Duke-NUS Institute of Biodiversity Medicine (BD-MED), located here, as part of the 12th Singapore-Brunei Young Leaders’ Programme.
The visit was hosted by Minister for Health and Coordinating Minister for Social Policies Mr Ong Ye Kung and joined by Acting Minister-in-charge of Muslim Affairs and Senior Minister of State for Defence Mr Zaqy Mohamad.
Prof Bin Tean Teh, Director of BD-MED and Deputy CEO (Enterprise and Venture) of NCCS, presented on the exciting ongoing collaboration between BD-MED and Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), one that has already borne fruit in the form of a joint laboratory and a study uncovering potential anti-cancer applications of Bunga Simpur, Brunei’s national flower.
At a tour of the Phytochemical Discovery Core Facility, BD-MED researchers showcased how they harness advanced technologies to analyse plants and their natural compounds, unlocking their potential for human medicine and health.
This visit was a wonderful reminder of what strong research collaborations can achieve together, and we look forward to continuing our partnership in the pursuit of better health outcomes for all.”
