Matthew Lockhart: Unlock $100,000 Debt Relief Through LRP and Stay Focused on Your Research

The National Institutes of Health shared on LinkedIn:

“The FY 27 NIH Extramural Loan Repayment Program Application Cycle is now open! Qualified health professionals conducting NIH-mission relevant research are eligible for up to $100,000 in student debt repayment over a two-year period.

  • Clinical Research
  • Pediatric Research
  • Facilitating Opportunities in Cutting-edge Science (new).

The deadline for applications is November 19. For more details and to apply visit.”

To which, Matthew Lockhart, Director, Division of Loan Repayment at National Institutes of Health, added:

“The NIH Loan Repayment Program (LRP) is now accepting applications. As director, I hear 2 things over and over from researchers.

The 1st is heartwarming: for so many, the LRP has been a true life changer. Easing the financial burden of educational debt so they can stay in research and do what they love.

The 2nd is heart-wrenching: too many researchers tell me they’d never even heard of the program until it was too late.

If you’re a health professional engaged in biomedical or biobehavioral research, or you know someone who is, please take a look and help spread the word. This program exists so researchers can keep doing what they love, but only if they know it’s there.”
