European Liver Screening Week – European Liver Patients’ Association
European Liver Patients’ Association (ELPA) shared a post on LinkedIn:
“European Liver Screening Week — proudly under the patronage of the European Parliament
Why this initiative? Because Europe carries the largest burden of liver disease in the world.
- More than 25 % live with Fatty Liver Disease (MASLD).
- Over 20 million Europeans face hepatitis B, C, and D. (WHO European Region)
- Add to this the devastating impact of MASH and alcohol-related liver disease and rare liver diseases like PBC, PSC, Autoimmune Hepatitis, Alpha-1, and Wilson’s …
All of these conditions are directly or indirectly linked to liver cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, obesity, kidney disease, NCDs….
The reality: 60% of liver diseases, Liver Cancer are preventable.
The solution: screening and early detection programs that can save lives, reduce suffering, and cut healthcare costs.
That’s why ELPA, together with partners and collaborators, is acting boldly — under the European Parliament’s patronage, aligned with the EU Cancer Plan and the upcoming Cardiovascular Plan.
This is more than a initiative — it’s a historic, unique moment to change the future of liver health in Europe. With united action, Europe can become a global leader in prevention and innovation.
Join us. Support European Liver Screening Week. Because early detection saves lives.”
