Karen Nakawala: Commissioning of the Radiotherapy and Imaging Section at Cancer Diseased Hospital

Karen Nakawala, Founder and Executive Director of Teal Sisters Foundation, shared on LinkedIn:

“An emotional and momentous occasion as we witness the Commissioning of the Radiotherapy and Imaging section by the Republican President Mr. Hakainde Hichilema at the Cancer Diseased Hospital.

For 6 years Zambia has had no radiation treatment and government had to send patients out of the country for treatment. Unfortunately, with the high cancer incidence not everyone could go and as a result we lost some. For 6 years We cried, we prayed and advocated for radiation treatment in Zambia to not only save lives but to revive what was once the center of excellence.

So you can only imagine what this means to me as advocate who was treated at this very hospital. Yes, We lost a lot of our beloveds but this will be a thing of the past. Up next is the Ndola Cancer Center and then Livingstone Cancer Center. Here’s to saving more lives and reducing the cancer burden!”
