Joanna Metzner-Sadurski, President of Oncology101.org, Adjunct Professor at Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine, shared on LinkedIn:
“Incredible gathering today at the McCormick Cancer Walk. Survivors, families, friends, caregivers, neighbors, and supporters showed up with so much heart.
Some storms come with names, like hurricanes. Others arrive quietly, on an ordinary clinic day, with a diagnosis no one was expecting.
Some walk because cancer is many years behind them. Some are fighting now or have just finished treatment. And knowing that nearly two in five people will face cancer in their lifetime, some walk for the future: for ourselves, our families, and the people may one day need support.
So today, we walk with purpose. We honor survivors. We support patients. We remember loved ones. And we invest in a future where breast cancer is found earlier, treated better, and one day cured.
We walk for progress, access, innovation, prevention, and hope. We walk so the cure comes on time, never too late, and reaches every patient, especially in rural communities.
And today, Ruiling Yuan and I were honored to win the raffle for a beautiful quilt of love and strength. We will frame it and cherish it in our new Breast Center of Excellence as a reminder of this community’s hope, courage, and support.”
