“Following the WHO Global Cancer Report 2026, international nursing and palliative care leaders call for urgent investment in the cancer care workforce.
The International Council of Nurses (ICN), International Society of Nurses in Cancer Care (ISNCC), and International Children’s Palliative Care Network (ICPCN) have released a joint statement highlighting that the future of cancer care depends not only on advances in medicine and technology, but also on a strong, skilled, and supported health workforce.
Nurses are at the heart of cancer care – from prevention and early detection to treatment support, survivorship, rehabilitation, and palliative care. Addressing global cancer challenges requires investment in nursing education, workforce development, leadership opportunities, and equitable access to quality care for all.
