“Want to develop the policy and leadership skills to transform health systems across Africa?
The International Program in Public Health Leadership (IPPHL) at the University of Washington’s Evans School is an eight-month flagship program for emerging leaders working in or closely with African Ministries of Health.
Fully funded by the Gates Foundation and delivered in partnership with the Center for Creative Leadership, it has already brought together 227 public health professionals from 34 African countries since 2017.
Here’s a look at what the program offers.
- Full funding, covering the entire eight-month journey at no cost to participants.
- A structured curriculum, covering policy analysis, evidence and evaluation, implementation, and personal leadership development.
- A blended learning format, combining live online sessions, self-paced work, and in-person immersion in Africa.
- Hands-on application, including a capstone project and graduation held in person in Africa.
- Partnership with the Center for Creative Leadership, bringing established leadership development expertise into the program.
- A growing alumni network, connecting leaders across dozens of African countries and health systems.
A clear timeline, with admissions decisions communicated by January 2027 ahead of a March 16, 2027 program start.
