Gilly Mathieson: Privileged to Represent Luxembourg at the ESMO GI Congress in Munich

Gilly Mathieson, Founder of The Complete Guide to Cancer Vaccines, shared a post on LinkedIn.

Inspired. Energised. Hopeful.

These are the words I’d use to describe my experience at the DICE Masterclass and ESMO GI Congress in Munich.

It was a privilege to represent Luxembourg alongside patient advocates, oncologists, researchers and industry experts from across Europe, learning about the latest advances in precision medicine, clinical trials, and how artificial intelligence can empower patients to become better informed partners in their own care.

One thing became very clear: the future of cancer care is collaborative. Patients, clinicians, researchers and policymakers all have a role to play in improving outcomes.

One of the highlights of the weekend was taking part in the DICE  5 km Fun Run.

My race number was  222. To me, it felt special. Many people see 222 as an angel number, a symbol of hope and new beginnings. It made me think of my son, my angel in heaven, and reminded me that the best way I can honor him is to keep moving forward.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone involved and particularly my fellow patient advocates for your generosity, inspiration and willingness to share your knowledge and experiences. The conversations, friendships and ideas will stay with me long after returning home.

I left Munich with renewed determination to continue learning, advocating and working towards a future where every patient has equitable access to innovation, information and the best possible care.

Thank you, Digestive Cancers Europe, for an unforgettable experience.
