ReCare Reaches 1,000 Patients Enrolled in High-Dose Re-Irradiation Study – EORTC

European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) shared on LinkedIn:

“On World Radiotherapy Awareness Day, we are delighted to announce that the 1,000th patient has been enrolled in the ReCare cohort of the EORTC-ESTRO E²-RADIatE platform.

This milestone is a shared achievement. It has been made possible by the commitment of every participating centre, from those enrolling large numbers of patients to centres contributing smaller numbers. Every patient enrolled strengthens the ReCare dataset and helps build better evidence on high-dose re-irradiation.

We would also like to acknowledge the five centres that have recruited the highest number of patients to date:

  • Medical University of Vienna, Austria
  • Humanitas University, Italy
  • University of Zurich, Switzerland
  • ZAS Augustinus, Belgium
  • Institute of Oncology Ljubljana, Slovenia

At European Society for Radiotherapy and Oncology (ESTRO) 2026 in Stockholm, the growing ReCare dataset was highlighted through two presentations covering patient selection, early death and adverse events following high-dose re-irradiation, and site-specific re-irradiation characteristics.

As we mark World Radiotherapy Awareness Day, we extend our heartfelt thanks to all participating patients, investigators and study teams. Whether a centre has enrolled one patient or many, each contribution is essential to ReCare’s success and to advancing radiotherapy research.”
