Jeliazko Arabadjiev: It was an immense honor and pleasure to listen to Jennifer Pietenpol’s lecture
Jeliazko Arabadjiev, President of the Bulgarian Scientific Society of Immuno-Oncology, recently shared on LinkedIn:
“Prof. Jennifer A. Pietenpol from Vanderbilt University Medical Center has been named the ASCO24 Science of Oncology Award recipient for her groundbreaking discoveries in triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) and the p53 family- signaling network.
Prof Pietenpol and her team have successfully classified TNBC into 4 main molecular subtypes―basal-like 1 (BL1), basal-like 2 (BL2), mesenchymal (M), and luminal androgen receptor (LAR)―by integrating molecular genomic techniques with bioinformatics.
On June 2nd, at the ASCO annual meeting in Chicago, Prof. Pietenpol received an award and delivered an extraordinary and moving keynote lecture on ‘Triple Negative Breast Cancer: Deciphering Heterogeneity for Therapeutic Strategies.’
Having worked for many years in the field of triple-negative breast cancer, including tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes, the role of the tumor microenvironment, predictive biomarkers, and immunotherapy for TNBC, it was an immense honor and pleasure to listen to Prof. Pietenpol’s lecture and to speak with her after just after she received the award!
What a memorable moment!”
