It’s time to put this collective action into practice to improve the lives of cancer patients around the world – Isabel Mestres
What a week! On Monday, we officially announced City Cancer Challenge is joining forces with the World Health Organization to implement its Global Breast Cancer Initiative (GBCI), translating an excellent global framework into impact at the local level.
And, although I’ve tried to contain my emotions (you know, that’s what women leaders are supposed to do 😉), let me tell you: I am full of joy and pride, because this project touches very deeply on my personal motivations, the ones that inspire me every single day as a CEO:
👉Equity for #healthcare: ensuring girls and women can access quality #cancer care, regardless of where they live or their socioeconomic situation.
👉Contributing to the #localisation agenda, enabling communities to be the drivers behind the global programs that aim at supporting their own needs.
👉Leveraging the potential of multi sectoral #partnerships. Cancer is complex and we need the contribution of every actor in the healthcare system to achieve our common goal, and we couldn’t have asked for better travel companions in this journey.
We are incredibly grateful to have the support of Amgen, AstraZeneca, Bristol Myers Squibb, MSD ( coordinated by IFPMA ) who have committed both financial resources and in-kind contributions to the successful implementation of GBCI.
Now, let’s get down to business! It’s time to put this collective action into practice to improve the lives of cancer patients and their loved ones around the world.
