Marianne Sarcich: Dense breast tissue is a breast cancer risk
Marianne Sarcich, Founder of Breast Health 101 with Marianne, shared on LinkedIn:
“Now, when you get your mammo, you’ll be told if your breasts are dense. No matter where you live in this country. An enormous accomplishment thanks to years of hard work from many advocates.
And so pivotal to our health. Dense breast tissue is a breast cancer risk. And it can keep cancer from being seen on mammos. So if your next mammo letter says you have dense breasts, what do you do? Take action. Read your radiology report. It’s in your patient portal.
It’ll tell you what the radiologist recommends your next imaging should be. Take that to your doctor. Together, map out what next steps make sense for you in context with your overall breast cancer risk. For more support on this, turn to dense breast non-profits like My Density Matters and Dense Breast-info.
And, take a look at this news story to hear my story, my take and to learn more.”
