For decades, chemotherapy has been viewed primarily as a cytotoxic treatment. Today, we increasingly recognize that chemotherapy and more recently, antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) – can also reshape the tumor immune microenvironment. When used thoughtfully, these agents may do far more than kill tumor cells: they can induce immunogenic cell stress, enhance antigen presentation, recruit immune cells, and create new opportunities for immunotherapy.
The key question is no longer simply whether to combine therapies, but how to combine the right therapies at the right time and in the right patients to achieve meaningful synergy.
