“Earlier this week, the Institute was proud to launch Multicultural Health Week with NSW Multicultural Health Communication Service at the State Library of New South Wales.
This week is about ensuring more people have access to culturally appropriate information and support to lead healthier lives.
The theme for this year is physical activity, which is one of the simplest and most effective ways to support your health and wellbeing, especially for people affected by cancer.

Tracey O’Brien, Chief Cancer Officer and CEO of Cancer Institute NSW, shared Cancer Institute NSW’s post, adding:
“Bollywood dancing isn’t how I usually start my week, but it was a great way to connect with some inspiring and passionate people working in multicultural health.
We know in NSW around 1 in 4 people speak a language other than English at home. In health care, that means we have a responsibility to listen, understand and tailor care to meet the needs of our richly diverse community.
Multicultural Health Week is a timely reminder that equity must be at the heart of healthcare. A huge thank you and congratulations to the team at NSW Multicultural Health Communication Service for continually reminding us that every person deserves to feel seen, heard and understood.”
