SIOP Europe, the European Society for Paediatric Oncology (SIOPE) shared on LinkedIn:
“As part of the Secretariat of the European Parliament’s Intergroup on Cancer and Rare Diseases, SIOPE was proud to help co-organise and contribute to an expert dialogue on cross-border healthcare at the European Parliament.
Hosted by MEP Georgiou and co-hosted by MEP Voiculescu, MEP Sokol and MEP Metz, with instrumental contributions from MEP Temido, the discussion highlighted a clear message: patients and families must be able to access the care, clinical trials and innovations they need, regardless of where they live.
SIOPE Board Members Gilles Vassal and Ruth Ladenstein conveyed important messages for the Parliamentary report: making the current system fit for purpose through smart implementation, while advancing a legislative framework that truly works for patients and their families.
Simpler and more predictable procedures, alongside cross-border access to both healthcare and clinical trials, emerged as key priorities.
SIOPE looks forward to working with MEPs, Childhood Cancer International – Europe, EURORDIS-Rare Diseases Europe, European Cancer Organisation and other partners to advance this vision further.
Together, we must turn cross-border healthcare rights into real, timely and accessible solutions for every patient.”
