Shearwood McClelland: Advancing Glioblastoma Outcomes Through Evidence-Based Innovation

Shearwood McClelland, Director of Spine Oncology at University Hospitals’ Department of Radiation Oncology, shared a post by Justin Keister, Senior Medical Physicist at the Aurora Cancer Center in Kenosha, Aurora Health Care on X, adding:

“Any discussion of OS in GBM without mentioning Optune is not intellectually honest. Only Temodar and Optune (TumorTreatingFields TTF) have Level 1 evidence-supported OS benefit for GBM in the last century. TTF for GBM should be offered to all patients.”

Quoting Justin Keister’s post:

“The Stupp trial added 2.5 months mOS and established Temodar as the standard of care in GBM. Liau trial demonstrated that DCVAX adds ~4 months to mOS and doubles 5 year survival in new and recurrent GBM. Stuck in regulatory review for 2.5 years. ”
