“Moving beyond one-size fits all in HER2+ breast cancer involves understanding trends.
We explored a real-world database (Flatiron) of ~15.000 patients treated with neoadjuvant pertuzumab based neoadjuvant treatment.
We found that:
- the T2N0 population (DB11-ineligible) is progressively expanding over time (+10% over a decade, now accounting for over a third of the patients seen in clinic)
- despite reducing the amount of chemotherapy we typically administer, T2N0 patients had preserved pCR rates over time
- recurrence outcomes are favorable, with 3-year DRFS 96% with standard treatment
- conversely, the DB11 eligible population remains at higher risk, warranting implementation of (neo)adjuvant T-DXd to optimize outcomes.”
