Nelson Dusetti: Promising Therapeutic Approach for Pancreatic Cancer
Nelson Dusetti, Head of the Translational Research and Innovative Therapies Department at the Cancer Research Centre of Marseille (CRCM), shared a post on LinkedIn about a paper he co-authored with colleagues published in the Journal of Cellular and Molecular Medicine:
“New Publication!
We’re pleased to share our latest article published in the Journal of Cellular and Molecular Medicine:
‘The T-Box Transcription Factors TBX2 and TBX3 Are Molecular Targets of Piroctone Olamine in the Treatment of Pancreatic Cancer’
This study uncovers a promising therapeutic approach for pancreatic cancer by repurposing piroctone olamine to simultaneously inhibit TBX2 and TBX3 – two transcription factors that play distinct but complementary oncogenic roles in PDAC.
Dual inhibition led to senescence, apoptosis, and loss of viability in cell lines, 3D spheroids, and patient-derived organoids.
We warmly thank Sharon Prince and her team at the University of Cape Town for this productive collaboration, and Sophie TARTARE DECKERT for introducing us and making this connection possible.
This work is yet another example of the broad international collaborations of the Cancer Research Centre of Marseille (CRCM) and Paoli-Calmettes Institute (IPC), bridging clinical and experimental research to advance personalized therapies for pancreatic cancer.
Our team contributed with patient-derived organoid models and scientific validation at CRCM/IPC. Odile Gayet and Loïc Moubri, great work!
Warm thanks to Karabo Serala, PhD, who honored us by conducting part of the experimental work in our laboratory at CRCM in Marseille.
Congratulations to all co-authors!”
