Gerardo Jimenez-Sanchez on NK Cell Dysfunction Driven by Lipid Uptake in Ovarian Cancer
Gerardo Jimenez-Sanchez, CEO at Genomica Medica, posted on LinkedIn:
“Interesting, researchers from Dublin, Harvard, and Princeton, led by Lydia Lynch, just published a study in Science Immunology linking lipid-rich abdominal fluid to significant immune suppression in patients with advanced ovarian cancer.
The tumor microenvironment, enriched with fat, impairs the activity of CD8+ T cells, key players in antitumor immunity. This discovery not only deepens our understanding of immune evasion in ovarian cancer but also opens new therapeutic avenues aimed at restoring immune function. Kudos to them!”
Title: Uptake of lipids from ascites drives NK cell metabolic dysfunction in ovarian cancer.
