“It’s fantastic to see OUCH’s session at the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) World Cancer Congress 2026, ‘Climate and Cancer Care: The Oncologist’s Perspective on Biology, Equity, and a Sustainable Future,’ highlighted by OncoDaily as one of the important discussions at this year’s World Cancer Congress.
A huge congratulations to everyone who made this session possible and to all of the speakers for helping move this important conversation forward at WCC 2026. Ilit Turgeman Susie Stanway Roselle De Guzman Seamus O’Reilly and Leslie Gilham.
The session brought together perspectives on some of the critical ways climate change is intersecting with cancer – from environmental exposures and cancer biology, to climate-related disruptions in care, health equity, sustainability, patient experiences, and the role of oncology professionals in driving change.
This is exactly the kind of conversation we need more of: recognizing that climate change is not just an environmental issue, but increasingly a cancer prevention, cancer care, health equity, and health systems issue.
What a great sign to see climate and cancer receiving this level of attention at the global cancer community’s largest international gathering!
