Nicholas Birda։ New Article Calls For a New Strategy in Paediatric Cancer Drug Development

Nick Bird, IT Consultant at NJB Consulting, shared on LinkedIn:

“In 2026, paediatric oncology must build more coordinated and fit-for-purpose drug development pathways – designed to lead to approvals of, and access to, better drugs to treat childhood cancers.

In our new article in The Lancet Child and Adolescent Health, co-authored by advocates and regulators, we call on academia, industry, regulators, advocates and funders to align around a new strategy: using a Target Product Profile (TPP) from the outset to guide the development of new products.

Europe’s incoming Pharmaceutical Legislation reform is the opportunity to make this strategic shift – one that could drive real improvements in both survival and quality of survival for children with cancer.
