Vera Ghali, Medical Doctor Pediatrics, Allergy and Immunology, Member of the Lebanese Order of Physicians and Lebanese Pediatric Society, shared NEJM’s post, adding:
“Promising results from phase 3 TAISHAN-302 trial for the treatment of patients with Small Cell Lung Cancer (SCLC) with relapsed extensive-stage progression after initial treatment with first-line platinum-based chemotherapy.
Results of the early-phase trial showed that tambotatug pelitecan (Tam-Peli), an investigational, next-generation antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) targeting B7-H3 (CD 276), an immune-checkpoint molecule that is highly expressed in solid tumors, resulted in longer survival and longer progression-free survival than patients receiving topotecan, a cytotoxic, topoisomirase I inhibitor that stops cancer cells from repairing and replicating DNA leading to cell death and is considered as the standard second-line chemotherapy for SCLC.
Treatment with tam-peli also showed a lower incidence of adverse events (AEs) of grade 3 or higher.
Hopefully, this new treatment will improve survival and quality of life for patients with SCLC.”
