Mohamed Metwally, Clinical Observer – GI Oncology (Liver Cancer) at UT MD Anderson Cancer Center, shared on LinkedIn:
“I’m grateful to have spent time in Dr. Jenny J. Li’s upper GI clinic at MD Anderson Cancer Center during my observership in GI Medical Oncology.
Dr. Li treats esophageal, gastric and gastroesophageal junction cancers, and following her clinic gave me a close look at how these patients are managed across several lines of treatment.
A few things I’m taking home to Aarhus:
- Thinking about the full biomarker picture early (MSI, PD-L1, HER2, claudin 18.2), because it shapes both standard options and trial opportunities
- Re-biopsying the fastest-growing lesion at progression, rather than the easiest one to reach
- Raising goals of care as a routine part of the conversation, not only at the end
Thank you, Dr. Li, for your time and for so generously sharing your clinical thinking. It has been a real pleasure learning in your clinic.
Looking forward to sharing more of what I learn with my colleagues at Aarhus University Hospital.”
