Michael Sapienza: FDA Accelerated Approval of Jemperli Marks Progress in Rectal Cancer Care

Michael Sapienza, Chief Executive Officer and colorectal cancer patient advocate, shared on LinkedIn:

“Big news for the CRC community: the FDA has granted accelerated approval to dostarlimab (Jemperli) for eligible patients with locally advanced rectal cancer.

For patients and families, this development is significant because treatment decisions are not only about controlling disease, but also about quality of life after treatment.

This approval is also an important reminder that biomarker testing at diagnosis is essential. It is the way to identify patients who may be eligible for newer treatment approaches and help them understand all of their options.

If you or someone you love is facing a diagnosis, ask your care team about biomarker testing or connect with the Colorectal Cancer Alliance’s cancer care navigators.

Congratulations to GSK, the researchers, and the patients behind this development, and thank you to everyone who has pushed for progress in this space.

Enough. Let’s end this.”
