“Now online on JTO.
Smoking cessation is a key component of lung cancer screening programs. In this setting, cytisine represents a highly effective treatment option, as demonstrated by our study involving nearly 3,500 participants, including approximately 1,300 treated within the RISP trial.
Key findings:
- Smoking cessation rate with cytisine: 50.1% (vs 8.1% with counseling alone)
- Adverse events were mild and readily manageable
An important study supporting the integration of effective smoking cessation strategies into lung cancer screening programs.
Thanks to all the RISP network, all co-authors and more importantly to Dr. Pastorino and Pr. Silvia Novello.”
