Maria João Cardoso: PORTRAIT Study Reveals Stark Disparities in European Breast Cancer Care

Maria João Cardoso, Breast Cancer Research Program Director at BCRP Champalimaud Foundation and International Coordinator of Cinderella Project, shared on LinkedIn:

“Proud to see the PORTRAIT study published in The Breast.

Despite extraordinary advances in breast cancer, where a woman lives in Europe still influences the care she can receive. Access to modern diagnostics, genomic testing, innovative therapies, reconstruction and supportive care remains far from equitable.

Our study maps these disparities across Europe and highlights an uncomfortable truth: women do not all have the same opportunities for high-quality breast cancer care.

Science only changes lives when innovation reaches every patient.

A special thank you to the work of Eduard-Alexandru Bonci, Rosa Di Micco, Professor Marisa Miraldo and the EUSOMA Team with the incredible work of Lorenza Marotti.”
