Qasim Hussaini: Nationwide Analysis of Legal Barriers to Cancer Care
Qasim Hussaini, Chief Medical Oncology Fellow at the Johns Hopkins Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center, shared a post on X by Fumiko Ladd Chino, Associate Professor in Radiation Oncology at MD Anderson Cancer Center, about a recent paper he co-authored with colleagues published in the JAMA Network Open:
“Nearly 1 in 2 people with cancer face legal barriers in trying to access treatment, a number likely to increase in the coming years.
Our new study, developed in close collaboration with Triage Cancer, whose navigation program made this work possible.”
Quoting Fumiko Ladd Chino’s post:
“This JAMA Network Open cohort study of >5000 examined legal barriers to cancer care access faced by patients and their caregivers.
Findings suggest a need for health care teams to better understand legal issues and design more accessible legal navigation services.”
