“The bottleneck in RWE and multicenter research isn’t typically the science. It’s turning unstructured data into usable data.
A LLM pulled 28 variables from charts across 10 centers (n=10,327), Benjamin Besse’s Gustave Roussy team, vs manual abstraction in 311 patients.
- LLM error 7.0% vs human 14.2%, p<0.001
- Human review of the LLM lowest-confidence output cut error from 30% to 4.4%
- Retrospective, lung cancer only, built with partner Lifen, not yet prospective
Excited to see more use of such tools in RWE.”
