“Big news for patients with bile duct cancer (cholangiocarcinoma): the FDA just approved a new targeted therapy, lirafugratinib (Lyrfigtu), for adults whose cancer carries a specific genetic change – an FGFR2 gene fusion or rearrangement – and who’ve already tried other treatments.
In the clinical trial supporting this approval, nearly half of patients (46%) responded to the drug, with many maintaining that response for close to a year.
This approval highlights the growing role of genetic testing in guiding cancer care – matching each patient’s treatment to the specific mutation driving their tumor.”
