“Many congratulations to Po Hien Ear lab at UI Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center for this important paper.
GLP-1R agonist promotes proliferation of neuroendocrine neoplasm cells expressing GLP-1 receptors.
Although this needs further investigation, especially in a prospective cohort; I see patients with NETs (especially PNETs) who are on these medications for obvious health benefits/ new-onset/pre-existent diabetes. It does make me nervous.
Hopefully we can generate more data to guide the safe use of these drugs among our patients with NETs.”
