George Kumar, Senior Director at AstraZeneca, shared on LinkedIn about recent paper by Shankha Satpathy et al., published in Cancer Cell.
“New Cancer Cell Publication.
Integrative analysis of lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) across diverse ethnicities and exposures
- EGFR mutations were enriched in East Asian never-smokers
- KRAS/STK11 co-mutations predominated in smokers of European ancestry
- African ancestry patients showed unique TP53 profiles and immune exclusion patterns
- Epigenomic and immune checkpoint signatures varied by both ancestry and environmental context
These findings highlight the importance of inclusive, multi-ethnic cancer research to drive more equitable precision oncology.”
