Gaurav Redkar: Tele-Oncology Explores Ways to Improve Cancer Care in Resource-Constrained Settings

Gaurav Redkar, Public Health Professional, shared on LinkedIn:

“Thrilled to share my fourth publication.

Our article titled ‘Telemedicine for Cancer Care in Resource-Constrained Settings: Benefits, Barriers, and Implementation Priorities’ has been published in the Indian Journal of Medical and Paediatric Oncology (2026).

This narrative review explores the role of telemedicine and tele-oncology in improving cancer care delivery in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), with India as the primary contextual focus.

The paper examines how tele-oncology can help address geographical disparities, improve access to specialist care, reduce travel and cost burdens, and support multidisciplinary collaboration.

At the same time, the review highlights important challenges – including digital infrastructure gaps, digital literacy, data privacy and security, regulatory uncertainties, workforce capacity, and the need for sustainable reimbursement models.

It also proposes key implementation priorities to support the development of scalable, equitable, and context-sensitive tele-oncology services in resource-constrained settings.
