Francesco Iorio, Senior Research Group Leader at Human Technopole, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Today marks an exciting milestone.
Our Nature Genetics commentary introducing PRECISE is now published.
PRECISE (Predictive Relationships Explaining Cancer Genetic Interactions and Synthetic Essentiality) brings together more than 30 research groups from over 20 institutes across 9 European countries, united by a shared ambition: moving cancer functional genomics beyond mapping vulnerabilities towards predicting them.
Over the past decade, large-scale perturbation screens have transformed our understanding of cancer dependencies and profoundly changed how new therapeutic targets in oncology are discovered and prioritised.
PRECISE aims to build on these foundations by combining perturbation biology, multimodal molecular profiling, AI, and machine learning to learn generalisable rules governing cancer vulnerability and ultimately guide the next generation of experiments and therapeutic discoveries.
It has been a privilege to coordinate the writing of this commentary alongside such an outstanding group of colleagues. What began as two workshops has evolved into a genuinely collaborative European initiative, and I am deeply grateful to everyone who contributed to making PRECISE a reality.
Many thanks to all consortium members.
I hope this is only the beginning.
