Erman Akkus: Review on familial multiple myeloma
Erman Akkus, Medical Oncology Fellow at Ankara University, shared a recent article by him and colleagues on X:
“Our review on familial multiple myeloma has been published in CLML by The European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO).
- This review presents the landscape of currently available data on familial MM as a clinical entity, from epidemiology to genetics.
- Familial MM was my internal medicine specialization thesis under the supervision of Meral Beksac. Since then, we continue to work on it.
- Germline mutations in Turkish familial cases, confirming rs28199 findings of International Consortium, analyzing somatic involvement of germline predisposition genes.
- Germline mutations in familial cancer cases may suggest potential pathways and treatment targets to be investigated further.”
