“What matters most to older adults with cancer?
As the population ages, more people are being diagnosed with cancer later in life. Yet older adults remain underrepresented in clinical trials, and their priorities may not always be reflected in research outcomes.
A new perspective from the EORTC Older Adult Council and the EORTC Quality of Life Group, published in the European Journal of Cancer, highlights the importance of integrating patient preferences into cancer clinical trials.
Alongside survival, treatment toxicity and quality of life, understanding what outcomes older adults value most and the trade – offs they are willing to make can help generate evidence that is more relevant to patients and support more patient – centred treatment strategies.
