Lung Cancer Europe shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Dogs can detect lung cancer from breath with 78% accuracy, according to new research.
- Seven trained dogs (Labradors, German Shepherds, Spaniels, and a rescue) took part
- Accuracy for saliva samples was much lower at 42%
- 154 people at a respiratory clinic provided both breath and saliva samples
- Findings could help shape future non-invasive tests for earlier detection
Lung cancer is too often diagnosed late. Exploring new, non-invasive approaches such as breath analysis could be a viable path to earlier detection and better outcomes.
