David Fruman: Novel Mechanisms of Cell Growth Arrest by Sphingosine
David Fruman, Chair of the Department of Molecular Biology and Biochemistry, Director of the UCI Cancer Research Institute, and Professor at UC Irvine, shared a post on LinkedIn about a paper he co-authored with colleagues published in the EMBO Journal:
“I would like to highlight the brilliant work of my colleague, Aimee Edinger, recently published in the EMBO Journal. She and collaborators identified novel mechanisms of cell growth arrest by sphingosine that can be harnessed using synthetic sphingolipid analogs to treat cancer and avoid the development of resistance. I am pleased to have contributed to this important advance.”
Title: Sphingosine simultaneously inhibits nuclear import and activates PP2A by binding importins and PPP2R1A
