“Delighted to share our latest work on the real-world evaluation of the Christie Symptom Inventory – Lung Cancer (CSI-Lung) ePROM, now published in Lung Cancer.
At The Christie NHS Foundation Trust, we are proud to have implemented ePROMs in the routine clinical setting, using patient-friendly questionnaires adapted from CTCAE items. This study provides a comprehensive evaluation of CSI-Lung using COSMIN methodology and real-world data, looking at validity, reliability, responsiveness and, importantly, patient experience.
Some key findings:
- 2,483 patients with lung cancer contributed routinely collected ePROM data, with a further 274 patients providing feedback on their experience.
- Strong evidence of reliability, validity and responsiveness, with results consistent with clinical expectations.
- Cognitive interviews confirmed that the items were relevant, comprehensible and comprehensive.Most importantly, patients found CSI-Lung highly acceptable:
- 93% found it easy to complete
- 92% considered it clinically useful
- 89% felt it supported their care
These findings support the use of CSI-Lung for routine symptom monitoring in clinical practice and provide an important foundation for wider adoption of ePROMs in routine cancer care.
